Baking soda volcano experiment at home in 15 minutes
Make a safe baking soda volcano in 15 minutes with a bottle, soda and vinegar.

Materials and quick build in 5 steps
You need a small plastic bottle, baking soda, vinegar, dish soap, red food color, a tray and clay or paper for the cone shape around it.
Build a cone around the bottle, add three spoons of soda and one spoon of soap, pour in red color, then quickly pour half a cup of vinegar and step back fast.
Why it erupts and safety rules
Vinegar reacts with soda and makes carbon dioxide gas bubbles that grow fast, pressure pushes foam up like real magma rising through cracks inside a volcano before eruption.
Always work on a tray, wear glasses, never look inside the bottle, wash hands after play and ask an adult to handle vinegar and clean the table after eruption.
- Real lava can reach 1200 degrees.
- Gas drives both toy and real eruptions.
- Soap makes foam thicker and taller.
- Clean the bottle and reuse it.
- Try less vinegar for a slow flow.
